There are several career paths available within publishing; from HR to IT to accounting to data to art direction to design – if you have a passion for books, you have a place in the publishing industry.

As an editor, would I sit in an office reading alone every day?

Publishing is a very collaborative work environment with several interdepartmental functions working together.  

Does everyone who works in publishing work directly on books?

Depending on your role, you are a part of the book-making and distribution process whether you work directly or indirectly on a specific book or a number of books.  

I want to be in publishing but I don’t have many connections within the industry. Will that affect my success?
