Meet the Independent Bookstore Sales and Marketing Team!

Margaret Coffee, Director of Sales – Schools, Libraries, & Independent Bookstores

Margaret.Coffee@sourcebooks.com

Margaret Coffee is what you call “a senior publishing professional” having toiled in both sales and marketing for decades. Before joining Sourcebooks in 2015, she worked at a variety of publishers including Penguin and Scholastic on such properties as Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and Goosebumps, and has travelled with the beloved original stuffed animal Winnie the Pooh which belonged to Christopher Robin.

As Director of Sales – Schools, Libraries and Independent Bookstores, she currently calls on Baker & Taylor, Ingram, Follett, OverDrive, Junior Library Guild, and Scholastic Book Fairs and oversees the four field groups which call on indie bookstores across the country. She just can’t help herself and keeps meddling in marketing.  A voracious reader, she enjoys historical and contemporary fiction, fantasy (but only with impressive world building) and memoirs. She is currently relegated to reading at home since she can no longer fly to accounts and conferences.

Favorite Sourcebooks title: Just one? Val already chose The Radium Girls, so The Winter Sea and Firebird (as a history major in college, I just adore these books and admire the painstaking research which went into crafting these stories), and Furyborn (when I finished reading the manuscript I was bereft to be separated from the characters until the next installment.)

Before joining Sourcebooks she received her Master’s in Publishing Studies degree from the University of Stirling in Scotland, and she worked on the publishing team at Allen Press. When she is not promoting books, Valerie can most likely be found reading them.

Favorite Sourcebooks title: The Radium Girls by Kate Moore and Max the Brave by Ed Vere. I incorporated part of the text of Max the Brave into my wedding ceremony as part of my vows to my stepdaughter. That book has a very special place in my heart!

Favorite Book Tipsy refreshment: Gin buck in the summer, hard cider with Fireball whisky in the winter.
